Getting your coffee fix

i have to admit something: while i am still first and foremost a "tea granny" as my mother likes to call me, i've really been getting into coffee lately. that's not to say that i never drank it before, because i did, but there's nothing quite like the exhaustion that comes with growing a baby to make you pick up coffee on a more regular basis. also, i'm thinking that once the baby is here and waking us up at all hours of the night, coffee will become that much more precious!

needless to say, my husband does not and never will drink coffee, so we don't have a coffee maker. what i have been using up to this point is a sad little plastic cone brewer, which was a total bummer when i had my parents + aunt in town over christmas who are big coffee drinkers.

so, since christmas especially, i have been thinking about making an upgrade. while i'm not quite ready (nor will i ever really be) for the likes of a beast like this, i'm thinking that something like the following are right up my alley.

 1 | 2 | 3 | 4

of course while i was looking around i happened to find this amazing tea brewer (honestly, i didn't know that such a thing exists). get this: it lowers the tea leaves into the water once it reaches the optimal temperature, and then lifts them out after the ideal steeping time. hello, love!!!

for now i think that i will stick with one of the simple coffee makers above to get my fix.

  1. Ahhh! I love my chemex, I highly recommend it. It takes an extra minute, but is so worth it.

    1. good to know, especially as that is what i'm leaning towards.
is it sad that i'm particularly drawn to it because it looks so beautiful in photographs too? ;)
